Denisha Hamilton is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional, Certified Addictions-Informed Professional (CAIMHP) and a DBT Certified Therapist that can work with many issues and ages. Denisha is well versed in dealing with issues of trauma, attachment disorder, anxiety, depression, gender/sexuality issues, as well as a variety of other issues that impact children, teenagers, and adults. Denisha uses the tenets of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to help clients work towards their goals, despite their diagnoses, life circumstances, and other obstacles that may steer clients away from their goals.

KRISTAL LAMAR, LPC

Licensed Professional Counselor

Kristal Lamar brings experience working with a wide range of ages and populations (veterans, adults, teens and adolescents). Kristal has knowledge working with adults and children in an outpatient setting and children in an inpatient facility. There is no limit to her expertise or drive. She applies various therapeutic interventions including but not limited to mindfulness, Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and more. Her fundamental principles are molded from a person-centered stance where the client is encouraged to share in a nurturing, judgement free, empathetic, genuine, honest, and safe environment. Each client is guaranteed a smile at the beginning and end of each session. Her passion is working with her clients to assist in identifying and overcoming obstacles in their lives, guiding them on their journey towards a healthier, more fulfilling life.

JORDAN COSTEN-SUMPTER, LCSW,

Jordan L. Costen-Sumpter is a dedicated social worker passionate about helping those in need, particularly youth. For the past eight years, he has focused on creating an affirming and accepting space specifically for LGBTQ+ adolescents. Throughout this journey, Jordan has supported youth facing various challenges, including anxiety, depression, and suicidal thoughts, by incorporating evidence-based practices aimed at improving their mental health and overall outlook on life. He has also provided care, support, and therapeutic services to the aging population in public settings.

Jordan utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to effectively address his clients’ concerns. He is committed to providing a space where clients feel calm, relaxed, and free to express their needs in a professional setting, whether virtual or in person.

Jordan’s philosophy on therapy is: "Help is here when you feel you need it. Don’t feel ashamed to ask for it. Instead, feel proud that you recognize there is a problem and are actively seeking a resolution.”

Ariel Batiste is a genuine, empathetic, and passionate  Licensed Social Worker. Ariel has a deep vested interest in empowering, inspiring, and installing hope to individuals struggling with life challenges and barriers. Ariel's specialty includes working with families, teenagers, and adults. Ariel utilizes strength based approaches providing validation towards empowerment and positive change. Ariel provides evidence based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and support that includes: mindfulness training, interpersonal effectiveness skills, and distress tolerance skills  to  assist with emotional regulation.

ROCHON MOORE BUMGARDNER, MSW

Rochon Moore Bumgardner is a social worker who works with and advocates for pre-adolescent teens, adolescent teens and young adults as they navigate transitional life stages. Rochon primarily uses but is not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), solution-focused approaches, and mindfulness to help youth identify and manage challenges they may face. Rochon works with youth to address life moments, including anxiety, depression, executive functioning, and internal and environmental changes. Rochon strives to enrich and create a person-centered environment to address the whole person.

 

Rochon's philosophy to therapy: "It's ok to ask for help even when the rest of the world seems to not need it. It is my goal to help reduce the stigma of therapy and share the benefits of having someone in your corner who will allow you to be you without judgment."

RAYA CARON, MSW

Raya Caron is a Resident in Social Work who enjoys working with a wide array of people, from children to adults. Never assuming she knows more than those in her care, she is not afraid to ask questions. Whether to learn more about her client’s life or to help her client discover truths within themselves. Having worked in a variety of settings, Raya has a great breadth of knowledge of mental health and developmental disorders. Being neurodivergent herself, she can understand the complexity of having to navigate a world that may not always be kind. Often utilizing elements from different modalities, Raya is a firm believer of integrating methods to create a holistic approach for each client. Raya is proficient in the areas of ADHD, LGBTQ issues, stress, life transitions, anxiety, depression, self-esteem and body image concerns, and family relationships. Raya is Health at Every Size (HAES) supportive and believes that everyone should feel comfortable in their own skin.

 

Raya's philosophy: "I have no magic answers. Instead, I offer kindness, humor, a sense of safety, and a promise that we will try and find the answers together. This is your journey; I am just along for the ride."

Jennifer Reynolds is a Resident in Social Work with over twenty years of experience working with adolescents. Jennifer has found that her niche is working with children, teens, and young adults. She enjoys building a partnership with her clients so they can reach the goals they've set for their lives. Jennifer has worked with teens from all walks of life and has learned that no matter where we are on our journey, we all walk through the same joys and struggles. The path may look different for all of us, but we will all find our way. Jennifer celebrates emotional growth in young people as they begin to piece together their definitions of themselves, their world, and their future.

 

Jennifer’s philosophy: "Every day is a second chance. There is always another day to work on the person you want to become. There is always another day to forgive yourself for things you wish you had done differently. Some days kick us, but some days we kick back."

Mitzi Albert is a Resident in Social Work with experience in advocating for clients related to improving the collaboration and communication between mental health and physical health providers. Mitzi has extensive training doing research on the topic of suicide prevention. Mitzi's passion is working with adults with chronic medical illness, as well as a variety of mental health concerns that accompany medical diagnoses. 

Mitzi believes that healing and growth are possible through an environment steeped in connection, mutual respect, and authenticity. She is interested in empowering her clients by helping them recognize and build upon their strengths to overcome life’s adversities.

TIANA CRAWFORD, MSW

Tiana Crawford is a Resident in Social Work, who has experience working in many diverse settings in the social work field including domestic violence shelters, The Administration for Children’s Services, and Public Schools, and behavioral health. Tiana has experience working with children, adolescents, young adults, adults, and families. She brings a unique perspective and understanding of the complexities of specific individual needs. Tiana has experience working with clients with trauma, mood/anxiety/substance use disorders, gender issues, low self-esteem, anger management, and other issues that impact day to day living. Her focus is to help others navigate their daily life challenges. As someone who suffered from post-partum depression, her special interest is prioritizing Black Maternal Mental Health. Tiana utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to effectively address her clients’ needs. She is committed to creating a safe, trusting, non-judgmental, and encouraging therapeutic environment where clients can feel free to express their needs.

Chantel Richardson is a compassionate Resident in Social Work with eight years of experience providing support to individuals from all backgrounds. She is dedicated to creating a safe, supportive, and affirming space where clients feel seen, heard, and validated. Chantel believes that no one is defined by their struggles but by their ability to grow and persevere in the face of them.

Specializing in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Gender-Affirming Care, Chantel tailors her approach to meet each client’s unique needs. She works with individuals facing anxiety, depression, trauma, attachment issues, gender and sexuality exploration, life transitions, and more, helping them develop coping strategies, build emotional regulation skills, and foster self-compassion.

As a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community, Chantel is passionate about affirmative therapy and ensuring LGBTQIA+ individuals feel empowered in their identities. At the same time, she is equally committed to supporting individuals from all walks of life, providing a welcoming space for anyone seeking guidance and growth. She understands that personal challenges—whether related to mental health, relationships, or identity—are deeply personal and unique, and she strives to meet each client with warmth, authenticity, and respect.

TANYA LAYTON

Social Work Intern

Tanya is a social work intern who’s been with Journey To Wellness since January 2024. With a background in education and over 20 years of teaching experience, Tanya brings a unique perspective to her role. Her passion lies in creating a supportive and inclusive environment for trauma survivors and the LGBTQ+ community. Tanya is well-versed in working with a variety of diagnoses, including anxiety, depression, PTSD, grief and loss, and other mental health concerns. She is certified in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and also utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approaches in her practice. Drawing from her extensive experience, she is dedicated to helping individuals redefine themselves beyond their challenges, emphasizing personal growth and empowerment. Tanya's approach is rooted in empathy and affirmation, ensuring her clients feel validated in their identities and experiences.

Since 2021, she's played a crucial role in developing and implementing online training courses with a licensed psychologist. These courses, tailored for first responders, address coping with witnessed trauma, highlighting her dedication to their well-being in the line of duty. Tanya celebrates emotional growth in individuals as they define themselves and shape their futures.

CALLIE BRINKER

Social Work Intern

 

Callie is a social work intern with years of experience working with middle schoolers, high schoolers, college-aged young adults, and middle-aged adults. She welcomes people from all backgrounds, and is passionate about working with underserved communities such as the LGBTQ+ community. She is dedicated to supporting individuals through different stages of life and utilizes evidence-based techniques including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

 

These approaches enable her to offer individualized support to address a range of challenges, including anxiety and depression. Her goal is to help you build resilience, discover your strengths, and empower you to achieve your personal goals. She is committed to creating a compassionate and non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings and work towards meaningful change with unconditional support.

 

Callie’s philosophy to therapy: “I strive to find a unique balance with each person between compassion and challenging, to both meet you where you’re at and help you grow in the direction you choose for yourself.”
